What Maintenance Does Pallet Rack Need?

Today GeZhi will  talk about daily maintenance methods and“How Long Can Pallet Racking Be Used For?”. In fact, the life expectancy of racks in use may be influenced by warehouse temperature, humidity, light, ventilation and so on. That makes daily maintenance important. So the question is what maintenance does pallet racking need and how long pallet racking can be used for. Generally speaking, high-quality racks, if with proper maintenance, can be used for a longer time.
First, Aware of moisture and rust and do regular cleaning
Racks are made of steel, so it may rust over time. Especially when the rainy season comes, the air becomes humid, it’s even more essential to see whether the rack is rusty. So we need to ventilate in time, keeping warehouse from being overly humid. Meanwhile, clean racks regularly. Excessive dust will contaminate racks, causing issues of quality, or making signs on them unclear leading to operators’ error operation.
Secondly, Aware of collision
The installation of guard plays a very important role in protecting uprights. The most vulnerable parts are uprights beside aisles and at the corners, which are usually deformed due to the collision of the forklift. Therefore a set of anti-collision facilities need be equipped according to different racks, aisle widths and transportation tools. In addition, make daily inspections, and fix the screws in time if loosen.

Third, Prevent overload
Each type of storage rack has a specified load capacity. Never overload racks, as this causes deformation and major safety risks. Also, follow the rule: place heavy goods below and light goods on top.
Finally, Check daily
Different warehouses and goods have different usage methods. So owners should make suitable and regular maintenance schedule, for example, how often to check, what to check, etc.

Ge suggests to regularly check the following:

1. Racks usage and bending deformation condition;

2. Whether uprights and beams are deformed and damaged;

3. Whether safety pins are complete and overall safety factor decreases;

Whether expansion screws, protectors and other facilities need replacement.
